BigBlueButton-Bot & BBB-Translation-Bot
Julian Kropp will be showcasing two projects that enhance BigBlueButton (BBB) with bots, both in the development phase with available demos.The first project, the BigBlueButton-Bot, is a prototype API wrapper written in Go, enabling interaction with BBB's backend APIs without a headless browser. It aims to create a bot with all regular BBB user functionalities, including chat, closed captions, and audio participation. The second project, the BBB-Translation-Bot, introduces real-time transcription and translation services to BBB, helping overcome language barriers and aiding hearing-impaired users. It uses a selfhosted version of OpenAI's Whisper AI for transcription and translation.
Some future ideas include bots for music, question collection, and AI learning assistance, demonstrating the expansion potential of BBB through specialized bots.

Julian Kropp is a dual student at h_da Darmstadt and works at COUNT+CARE also known as entega. In their IT Lab, he gets to collaborate with apprentices and students to build and program all sorts of prototypes. Currently, he is focused on writing his bachelor thesis. When he is not busy with school, he loves hanging out with friends, playing badminton, and going stand-up paddling.
